Cucumber – Raita

Cucumber Raita

This is a very simple but fantastic side dish especially on warm, sunny days.

It’s works well as a topping for potatoes or as a side with any curry.


1 whole cucumber, grated                           2tbsp mustard seeds,

450g plain yoghurt                                               crushed

1tsp fenugreek seeds (or cumin seeds)                 Salt to taste

1 tbsp vegetable oil

½ tsp turmeric powder


  • Mix the yoghurt, grated cucumber and mustard powder in a bowl.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan and add fenugreek seeds.
  • Let the fenugreek seeds turn black, then add the turmeric powder and add to the yogurt mix.
  • Add salt to taste and mix well.
